Member Spotlight: Daryl Niño Jabil

SALAMAT, Pres Daryl.

Daryl Niño Jabil was inducted as the 78th President of JCI Cebu on March 19, 2026, at Radisson Blu Cebu. In his year, the chapter delivered relief with PCCBI Cebu to communities hit by the earthquake, met with Governor Pam Baricuatro to open a partnership with the Province of Cebu, carried the "Smile by Water" partnership with JCI Japan into 2026, and turned over a greenhouse for Project BERDE's third year.

His road to the presidency was built one office at a time: Area Skills Development Director for the Visayas in 2022, Executive Vice President for Internal Affairs in 2024, and Treasurer in 2025.

In our 79th year, he continues to serve the chapter as Immediate Past President, and he now serves the wider region as JCI Philippines Regional Vice President for Central Visayas.

Member Spotlight: Atty. Amiesteven Clarke Lao ⚖️

Every chapter needs someone who knows the rules and makes sure we keep them. For JCI Cebu, that has been Atty. Amiesteven Clarke Lao.

Atty. Steve served as JCI Cebu's General Legal Counsel in 2025 and again in 2026. Through two years of programs, partnerships and elections, he guided the chapter on its constitution, its agreements and its obligations, so that our work could stand on solid ground.

In our 79th year, he takes on a larger role. As Executive Vice President for Internal Affairs, he will lead the chapter's internal programs and the members who run them.

Atty. Steve is a lawyer based in Cebu City and a product of the University of San Carlos.

Member Spotlight: Johnel P. Luceño 🎤

Congratulations to our 2027 Executive Vice President for External Affairs, Johnel "Nel" P. Luceño, a 2026 JCI Philippines Presidential Awardee for his service as National Chairperson for Debate and Public Speaking.

Nel knows the stage from both sides. In 2025 he helped the Visayas Area team reclaim the JCI Philippines National Debate Championship, and he was named one of the Top 5 Most Outstanding Members at the National Convention in Legazpi City. In 2026 he carried that title to the JCI Asia-Pacific Conference in Niigata, Japan, where he reached the debate semifinals representing the Philippines, and he served the whole country as the national chair of the program that shaped him.

Off the stage, Nel is the proponent of #MoveEveryday. It began as his own daily habit while training for IRONMAN 70.3, and it grew into a JCI Cebu movement, starting with the #MoveEveryday Community Run for Bins in 2024. He has since crossed the finish line at IRONMAN 70.3 Lapu-Lapu. In his own words: "It starts with showing up."

By day, he is a Software Engineering Manager at Accenture. In JCI Cebu, he has served as Vice President for Community Development and as Auditor, and he now serves as Executive Vice President for External Affairs in our 79th year.

Member Spotlight: Dr. Pedro T. Fernan III, CLSSBB 🏆

Congratulations to our 2027 Executive Treasurer, Dr. Pedro "Pidot" T. Fernan III, CLSSBB, named CEO of the Year for the BPO, Recruitment, and Talent Management Industry at the Legacy Icon Awards 2026.

The Legacy Council Philippines presented the award on October 26, 2026, at the Grand Ballroom of Okada Manila.

Pidot is the Founder and CEO of Level Up Talent Solutions, a Cebu-based company that trains and places skilled virtual assistants and helps growing businesses with outsourcing and recruitment. He is also a Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, and he brings that discipline to how his teams are trained.

In JCI Cebu, he served as Director for Recruitment in 2025 and Vice President for Organizational Development in 2026, and he will serve as Executive Treasurer in our 79th year. Every Christmas, he and his wife also share a meal with street dwellers in Cebu, a quiet tradition that says as much about him as any award.

After the awards night, Pidot wrote that legacy "is not measured by how much we earn… but by the lives we touch," and he shared the recognition with his family, his Level Up team, and the clients and partners who trusted them.

Member Spotlight: Joshua Toledo

When JCI Cebu set out to help local businesses put artificial intelligence to work, Joshua Toledo was in the room.

As the chapter's 2026 Local Skills Development Director, Joshua hosted the AI Business Case Training Series for the 18 teams of LAMBO 2026, Cebu's AI Business Summit, where business owners learned to turn practical AI into real business cases. Earlier in the year, at The Human Code leadership series, he introduced chapter leaders to the "Co-Botting" mindset, a practical way to work alongside AI in strategic leadership.

In our 79th year, Joshua serves as Vice President for Training, leading the chapter's training bureau.

Member Spotlight: Engr. Jay Emanuel Q. Alegarbes, MSc 🏅

Congratulations to our 2027 Vice President for Linkages, Engr. Jay Emanuel Q. Alegarbes, MSc, recipient of the 2026 Golden Laurel Award for Scientific and/or Technological Development, conferred by JCI Philippines at the 2026 National Convention in Zamboanga.

Jay is an industrial engineer, and an instructor and researcher at the University of San Carlos. His research applies artificial intelligence to a solar-powered hydroponics system, work he presented for the Philippines at the 11th World Sustainability Forum in Barcelona in 2025. That same thinking sits behind Project BERDE, JCI Cebu's food security program, which was named Best Food Security and Sustainability Program at this year's Temiong Awards.

The Golden Laurel adds to a growing record:

Member Spotlight: Niño Jan V. Miole

Some members find their place in JCI in the training room. For Niño Jan V. Miole, our 2027 Vice President for Communications, the training room became a stage that reached all the way to Taiwan.

In October 2024, Niño Jan earned his JCI Area Trainer certification at the JCI Area Trainer Certification in Taoyuan, Taiwan, held alongside the 2024 JCI World Congress. His fellow trainers there remembered him as the "Unforgettable Ninja." That same year, JCI Philippines named him Most Outstanding Trainer at the Temiong Awards, and he was recognized as a National Trainer Level 1 awardee.

He has served JCI Cebu as Local Skills Development Director in 2024, as Vice President for Training in 2025, where he led sessions on program design for the chapter's trainers and on career conversations for senior high school graduates, and as Vice President for Linkages in 2026. In our 79th year, he leads the chapter's communications.

Member Spotlight: Mark Anthony Abellana

JCI Cebu is proud to share that our very own Mark Anthony Abellana is part of the training team of the National Trainer Certification at the 2026 JCI World Congress in Clark, Pampanga, serving as an Assistant Trainer.

Mark has long been at the heart of training in our chapter. He served as JCI Cebu's Vice President for Training in 2024, went on to serve JCI Philippines in national skills development, and will lead that work nationwide as the 2027 National Skills Development Director of JCI Philippines.

From November 9 to 11, he joins the trainers preparing the next set of JCI national trainers, handling Training Methods, Facilitation Skills and Evaluation. These trainers will carry JCI training back to their own chapters.

We wish you every success, Mark. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and for raising the bar for training in JCI Cebu and beyond.

Member Spotlight: Kyle Alexander C. Aznar

Some of the proudest moments in JCI Cebu's story are written by our members, long after the meeting ends.

Kyle Alexander C. Aznar served on the JCI Cebu Board of Directors as Auditor in 2025. Outside the chapter, he is President and CEO of Aznar Shipping Corp., the Cebu-based inter-island shipping company his family built.

Kyle stepped up to lead the family business at a young age. He brought in a professional board of directors, modernized how the company works and kept the fleet growing. The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry has named him its Young Entrepreneur of the Year.

Aznar Shipping's roots go back to 1992. Its first RoRo vessel, Melrivic 2, began sailing the Tuburan–Escalante route in 1993. Today its RoRo and passenger vessels connect communities across the Visayas, and a modernization program has added the Manoling vessels to the fleet.

Now the company is writing its next chapter. Aznar Shipping is listing on the Philippine Stock Exchange this December, allowing investors to take part in Visayas’ shipping growth. The offer period runs from November 26 to December 9, 2026, at PX per share, with the PSE debut on December 18, 2026.

JCI Cebu has been developing young leaders for nearly eight decades. Watching one of our own take his family's company to the stock exchange is a proud moment for the chapter and a page in our own history.
